NEW ZEALAND'S RETIREMENT INCOMES CHALLENGE

KiwiSaver marks an important milestone in 2012: for the first time, eligible members will be able to access their retirement savings. It is timely, therefore, to consider how this ‘draw-down’ phase will affect the KiwiSaver landscape. While much time and thought has been devoted to the accumulation phase of retirement funding, the question that’s now emerging is: ‘what's next?’.

This paper explores the issues and canvasses solutions to the post-retirement challenge in New Zealand. It also raises several questions, which can only be answered by a robust discussion between KiwiSaver funds, the Government and the financial services sector.

Mercer hopes this is the beginning of a more focused debate about retirement funding for the future and we are taking an active role in the media to support our message.

Breaking Down Borders

During May, Mercers KiwiSaver team will be holding free member seminars in main centres of New Zealand.

Well be able to help you answer questions such as:

Am I making the most of the opportunities available to me in KiwiSaver?
What is my investor risk profile?
Is my money invested in the most appropriate investment option for my age and stage of life?
Am I saving enough to achieve a comfortable retirement?

Each session will take about 45 minutes, and we will be available to speak with individuals and answer any questions afterwards.
