Mercer was recognised for strong communication to KiwiSaver members at the Workplace Savings New Zealand Communications Awards held in Wellington last week. Mercer was awarded the Annual Reporting of the Year – KiwiSaver Schemes. award.
Workplace Savings New Zealand holds the annual industry-wide awards programme to recognise excellence and innovation in communications by all types of Workplace Super – corporate and industry super schemes, Master Trust arrangements and KiwiSaver schemes.
Martin Lewington, Mercer’s Managing Director for New Zealand said, “Providing meaningful information to our KiwiSaver members is absolutely critical. We believe knowledge can be powerful in improving New Zealander’s retirement savings and annual reports can be an effective tool to communicate and help improve knowledge - saying that, it can be challenging to produce an annual report that is engaging for members.
“We worked hard to ensure our Mercer KiwiSaver Scheme annual report appealed to as many members as possible. We know, from our global research into the world’s leading retirement savings systems that education and member communication should be regularly provided to all members. Our annual report is just one important tool in our toolkit of communication.
“We very deliberately promoted financial literacy in our report and took into account member preferences, including the method of the report’s delivery, and naturally, ensured we complied with regulatory requirements,” said Mr Lewington.
Judges noted submissions this year were of the highest standard they have seen.
“We are very proud that a judging panel of members from Women in Super, Commission for Financial Literacy and Retirement Income, Write Limited and Alexander & Associates recognised Mercer for our member communications, acknowledging our efforts to personalise where possible; to genuinely engage our audience; and encourage members to improve their financial literacy and choose the right fund for them,” said Mr Lewington.
